1. New ideas and suggestions!
Our ID shared ideas based on the preferences that we've shared and it really helps us to think about the overall concept before finalising our design.
Our ID also included suggestions on the various furnishings, including furniture and lighting. This also helps us to better visualise how different colours/ textures come together.
2. Bring our (pinterest) ideas to life!
Most of our home reno ideas came from pinterest inspiration. We are really glad that our ID is very open and receptive, and she always help to bring our ideas to life, while considering the practical aspects!
An ID helps to manage the entire project and ensure that the various reno works are well executed. For example, for the french door to the MBR, it was not an easy task - our ID had to make sure that the arch niche was done up properly first before we custom make our door.
For the kitchen, we showed our ID some of the pinterest pics we saw and that's how we landed on what we have eventually. It's less common for HDB kitchens to have an arch niche on this side of the kitchen wall (there's a pipe behind!), but we are glad that our ID made it work!
Even for areas that we didn't need any built-in carpentry, our ID also tried her best to support us to make sure that this area turned out cohesive with the rest of our home.
The balcony like area was also done up nicely. Our ID worked closely with the contractors to make sure that the tiling was done properly to better demarcate the "balcony-like" area
3. Sharing their insights to narrow down decisions!
During reno, there will be many decisions to make and we really appreciate it when our IDs give us recommendations based on her past projects or her personal experience with different items.
For example, there were so many blues to choose from for our kitchen laminate. Our ID was very patient and showed us the different options (including the larger ones beyond the sample book), and explained the differences to us!
Even when the choice of tiles are less conventional, our ID shares with us her opinions whether it would work. We were originally a little hesitant about this combination of tiles, but our ID was optimistic about it and we are glad we stuck to it.
Having an ID really has its perksand we are pretty sure that we will stay get an ID for renovating out next home too :
