Alright, it's finally time to spill the tea on our home after a solid month and plenty of unpacking, styling, and maybe a few too many trips to IKEA. Get ready for the full reveal!
Our vibe? Picture this: a cool blend of minimalism meets mid-century modern. Some of our friends swear it gives off a “90s Hong Kong cafe” vibes — a little retro, a little sleek, and 100% cozy. Come take a peek and see if you agree!
One of the showstoppers of our home?
The skylight, of course! Not only does it flood the space with natural light, but it’s got a nifty trick up its sleeve: you can actually tweak the color hue, adjusting it from day light to sunset. Talk about mood lighting, right?
Did you spot the little peek-a-boo light in the corner? We’re absolutely loving how Melvin from CYID brought this vision to life. This corner was meant to have an art gallery vibe—timeless, yet flexible enough to transform into whatever we need it to be.
One of the splurges we’re so glad we went ahead with is the lime wash paint recommended by our ID.
It really brings a beautiful depth and texture to the space, seamlessly blending with our floor tiles from Hup Kiong and giving the whole room a more spacious feel. No regrets here!
Our ID had a genius suggestion—swap out the original skylight above the dining area for a circular dome light instead.
Why? Because we’re just not fans of hanging lights. This dome totally fits the space and, bonus, it lights up the entire dining area like a charm. We’re loving it!
Sticking with our theme, we went for walnut wood paired with off-white sintered stone and backsplash tiles.
We’re definitely into non-uniform designs, so we chose irregular tiles to add a bit of edge and personality to the space.
After a few visits to the new house, we decided the common bathroom needed a makeover. The original HDB tiles felt a bit too dark and gloomy for our taste.
We switched things up with sandy, stone tiles and a cream colored sink to brighten things up. Plus, we swapped out the wood laminate in our rendering for a micro-cement laminate to give the space a cleaner, more modern feel.
For the master bathroom, we replaced the wood laminate with micro-cement as well. We wanted a brighter, more serene vibe, and it definitely gives the space a calmer, zen-like feel.
We’ve had a few questions about our integrated sink, so here’s the scoop! It’s custom made, made with our choice of sintered stone. Our ID, Melvin really nailed it with this one—it definitely takes the whole bathroom experience to the next level!
Here's a tip, if you prefer to minimise your cleaning, do opt for half mirror vanity like ours, mirror cleaning is truly a hassle!
Our bedroom features a custom-made low bed frame designed with our furry friend in mind, making it easier on his back when he jumps off.
To keep the look cohesive, we matched the laminate of our built-in wardrobe with the cupboards in our bathroom vanity. Sticking to a limited selection of materials really helps the space feel cleaner and more unified.
