Hello everyone, we’re K & E and welcome to our angel’s abode! As Bidadari means Angel in Malay, we felt it is more apt to incorporate it for our home as we want our first love nest to feel heavenly. As first time home owners, there were many things we were really excited about.
Some fun facts about us - K aka me loves all things white, woody, airy and elegant while the mister E likes all things dark and luxe. I’m very big on aesthetics while the mister is big on practicality and passionate about smart technology. Perhaps our likes are influenced by the industry we’re in. My job requires me to be creative while mister E is in the tech industry.
With such diverse likes, we decided to seek opinions from our ID. We eventually came to a compromise and decided on the modern luxe theme with the following factors in mind:
- Having dark grey, light grey, black, white in our colour palette (with a little tinge of wood)
- Choosing matte finishing with gold embellishments for the luxe vibes
- Using sintered stone with marbled patterns to add texture
Greeting our front door is our own customised doormat and signages that add to the personalised touch of our abode. As we shop online quite a fair bit (who doesn’t nowadays!), the parcel box is a convenient and secure solution for the delivery men to drop off our parcels when we’re not at home.
Mister E is very big on technology and making the house a smart one. Hence, having a smart lock is a must! More importantly, we love how this lightens our pockets as we have less keys to bring around. Added gold trims to our door cause LUXE. Haha.
Whenever someone presses the door bell, we love how we can give specific instructions through our phones and smart home assistant - Siri. Sometimes, we also do lame things like telling our friends to do a funny dance before we open our door haha. We will share more about our smart home another time because that requires another post by itself.
We love stepping into our sanctuary everyday. This is what greets us everyday the moment we reach home. We chose furniture based on the colour themes closely. The cosy living room makes it really inviting to chill and we can sit here for hours after a long tiring day, watching our favourite podcasts and shows together! We chose mainly dark and light grey for our wall colours and matched the furniture accordingly to create a nice contrast.
Behind the dining table is a little settee for us to get ready or remove our shoes. Adding a little pop of colour and character to this area with cushions and LED lights.
As we love hosting, we specially designed an island opposite our dining area to showcase our dishes. On some romantic days, we do also sit around the island table to enjoy our meals and have our HTHTs.
We love it that our kitchen is a long L shape. We divided our kitchen into wet and dry sections. Wet for laundry and cooking whereas dry for serving and plating dishes for guests. Keeping the wood laminates consistent with the ones used at entryway to ensure design is seamless.
Down the hallway is our common toilet. We decided to go with this consistent grey tiles with some designs to create a playful and cool vibe for our common toilet. We followed the colour palette by using light grey, black, marbled sintered stone texture.
Creating a pleasant experience for our guests with Aesop soap as well as diffuser from Hysses. Small little add ons but it certainly elevates the bathroom experience.
Welcome to the master bed room. As mister does work from home often, this is a sneak preview of his man cave and work station. Can’t wait to share more about this in time to come!
We chose big tiles to enhance the elegance of the toilet. The two different coloured tiles dark & light grey are used to differentiate the wet and dry area. Love how this goes well with our black cabinet as well as our gold toilet accessories.
Darker grey for shower area. It certainly matched the gold shower accessory for luxe vibes. For an elevated look, we standardised our shower and shampoo bottles with these aesthetic bottles.
Opposite our master bedroom is our walk-in wardrobe. We love how this seamlessly makes us feel like we’re staying in a hotel room, where the wardrobe is connected to the bedroom.
For our wardrobe, we have a mixture of see through and non see through cabinets. Guess whose clothes are in the non see through cabinets because she has tons of clothes?! No prizes for guessing it right hehe.
It has been a blessed journey doing up our love nest. We are incredibly grateful to have received so much love from our loved ones and we hope we will remember this joy that comes in co-creating our first love nest together.
Stay tuned as we share more in depth about the purchases of our house and make further improvements to areas like the recreational room!
