Hello, folks!
Welcome to our master bedroom! Here, we kept things simple and cozy, decorating the space in earthy, natural tones (think warm beiges and browns!), with a touch of green from some carefully placed greenery to tie in with our modern organic theme.
Aside from our bed, everything in the room is made from natural materials like wood, rattan, and seagrass, adding texture and warmth. We’ve always dreamed of having a cloud bed, and we finally got one from Taobao! It’s a king-sized beauty, upholstered in premium scratch- and stain-resistant velvet—perfect for both comfort and durability, especially with our fur baby, Bucky, around!
Keeping our space open and uncluttered was a priority, so we skipped a wardrobe in here and converted the bedroom across into a walk-in closet instead. That way, our room feels extra spacious and open. The only other pieces in here are the essentials—a TV, a mini-fridge, and an office table.
Now, let’s take a closer look at the little corners that make this a space we never want to leave!
As you reach the top of the stairs, our bedroom entrance is to the left, welcoming you into our cosy retreat. All our bedroom doors are arched to complement the soft, organic curves we’ve incorporated throughout the home. They’re laminated with a finish that beautifully mimics real wood - and we couldn’t be happier with our choice!
These windows allow additional natural light to filter into our room during the day, creating a bright and airy feel. They not only add character and depth to our bedroom but also enhance the staircase area, creating a beautiful architectural feature that draws the eye upward and adds a sense of openness to the space.
Here’s a glimpse of our bedroom from the entrance...
...where we’re so grateful for the ample space to move around. It’s not only a relaxing retreat, but also a space where we can pray whenever we don’t feel like heading downstairs to our 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘩 (dedicated prayer room). The earthy tones and touches of greenery add to the calm vibe, making it a place we truly enjoy spending time in.
We've always wanted to place a bench at the foot of the bed, but in our previous bedroom, we couldn’t make it work without sacrificing walking space. So, we're thrilled to finally be able to add one in our new bedroom! Although, we’ve since noticed that many interior stylists are moving away from benches in favour of stools. So, we decided to follow suit! These stools aren't just decorative—they also serve a practical purpose. We use them to neatly place the extra cushions from our bed before turning in for the night, making them both a stylish and functional addition to the room.
To the left of the bed, is our office table—a curved design we’re so excited about, as its organic shape really complements our bedroom’s theme.
We also love how placing it under our arched windows adds a unique touch, with the beautiful backdrop they provide while letting in natural light as we work. This space is still a work in progress; we’re in the middle of setting up our work area with a desktop, and our office chair is still on its way.
Under the table is our mini fridge, stocked with flavoured drinks, water, and chocolates—perfect for those lazy movie nights when we just can’t bring ourselves to get out of bed and head downstairs for a snack.
On the opposite side, where the windows are, we’ve unintentionally created a work nook!
Our plan to box up and conceal the aircon brackets ended up giving us a countertop spacious enough for us to work on our laptops, all while enjoying the beautiful, unblocked view outside. To give the box-up more character and visual interest, we asked for arches to be incorporated, giving it a more dynamic and welcoming feel that ties in with the rest of the room.
To make the most of this work nook, we added high chairs so we can sit comfortably while working. It's our temporary workspace until the office is fully set up. Plus, it’s become a favourite perch for Bucky, who loves birdwatching and watching the traffic go by.
We get the morning sun through these windows, so to help us sleep in longer on some mornings, we installed Roman blinds, choosing a fabric in a shade that blends seamlessly with the earthy tones of the room.
On the opposite side of our bed is the TV, and we're really happy with our decision to have our ID place the power sockets directly behind it. This simple tweak helped us achieve a clean, sleek look, completely hiding the wires and keeping everything neat.
We're really grateful for the generous space between our bed and the TV. It not only allows us to place these stools but also gives us plenty of room to pray, whether individually or together.
Finding this prayer mat in a colour that matches our bedroom was such a blessing! We bought it during our pilgrimage to Mecca two years ago, never imagining how perfectly it would fit into our home and this space today. ❤️
These textured weave stools were also such a fabulous find, and the colour makes it feel like they were made just for our space!
Searching for the perfect bedside tables was quite the journey! We really didn’t want the typical boxy style that most bedside tables have. During our last trip to Bali, we spotted these tables in a showroom display and instantly fell in love. Shipping them back would have been ridiculously expensive, so we were thrilled to find them on HipVan!
On one, we've placed a frame of our wedding invite from six years ago (which we self-designed!) and next to it on the floor sits our wedding photo.
We love how the roundness and curves of the table bring softness and warmth to the space. True, they don’t have drawers for storage, but that’s not an issue for us. In our previous bedroom, we only had a wall shelf as a bedside table, and we mainly used it for our phones and reading glasses. These tables work perfectly for that and fit our needs just right!
Our seagrass pendant lamps were purchased in Bali during the same trip, and we love the organic, unstructured shape they add to the room—such a unique, one-of-a-kind touch. The textured painting above our bed is actually a DIY project—can you believe it? When we couldn’t find a piece that matched the design and colours of our bedroom, we thought, "Why not make our own?" It was a fun, directionless adventure (haha), but we’re so happy with how it turned out. There’s something special about having a piece we created ourselves hanging in our bedroom!
The cushion covers we chose add an extra layer of texture and continue the natural earth tones throughout the room. The larger covers were sourced from Bali, while the lumbar cushions are from HipVan. We love using duck feather-filled cushions because they’re perfect for that signature ‘karate chop’ look (heh!), giving the bed an effortlessly styled, yet cozy vibe.
The bed linen is from Kim Soo Living (also in Bali), and the white embroidered pattern adds a subtle touch of texture and charm, making it feel more special than a plain set would.
Making the bed, with all the pillows and cushions, is one of those little things that really elevates the overall look of the room. It’s true—sometimes it feels like a hassle, especially when mornings are busy, but the difference it makes in the room’s vibe is totally worth it! A beautifully made bed adds a touch of style and makes the space feel cosy and inviting. We’ve found that taking the time each morning to tidy up and add those finishing touches not only sets a positive tone for the day but also makes it such a joy to walk into a calm, put-together bedroom at the end of a long day. It’s those small efforts that really pay off in the end!
Oh! Before we forget, here's the entrance to our bathroom.
It's positioned opposite our bed (but slightly to the side, so it's not directly across) and next to our TV. Of course, we had to go with an arched door to keep the theme consistent, and we picked a reeded glass door to add a bit of subtle detail to the space, making it feel even more integrated into the room's overall vibe.
And here's the view of our bedroom entrance from our bed.
We’ve placed a textured artwork on the wall to add depth and a touch of personality to the space, enhancing the overall cozy, organic vibe we’ve created.
We're wrapping up this post with a few more shots of our room, showcasing the little details that bring everything together.
From the textures and natural elements to the simple, functional layout, we hope these images give you a glimpse into the peaceful, inviting space we've created.
There's one final touch we're planning to add to our bedroom: a rug under the bed! We think adding a rug will bring in warmth and texture, while also grounding the space and enhancing the overall cozy vibe we’re going for.
Thanks so much for reading along and taking a tour of our bedroom! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we love this space. If you liked what you saw, feel free to give this post a ‘like’ or leave a comment below — we’d love to hear your thoughts! ❤️
