Renders vs Reality: His vs Hers Bathroom 🧼

We decided early on that instead of thinking of our two toilets as the typical guest and master bathrooms, we’d design them as his and hers. We wanted both to feel cohesive yet personal. 
This is the first ever render of the bathroom in the master bedroom, also known as the 'Her' toilet. I decided to take a bit of a risk with the design — instead of going for the large tiles that most people recommend (they’re easier to clean), I opted for a more old-school charm with smaller tiles. I really wanted this space to feel bright, playful, and full of personality, so I didn’t shy away from bold colour choices either! Here’s how the bathroom looks today! We took it a step further by painting the box-up to brighten the space even more. To stay within budget, we kept the original HDB-provided sink and added a wash basin base cabinet to hide the exposed pipes, giving it a cleaner, more polished look. We also reused a mirror we already had instead of buying new ones, and aside from that, the tiles and overall vibe stayed true to the original plan. My preference for a retro-ish look, after spending countless hours on Pinterest, came together with the greenish-blue paint and terracotta tiles. The smaller square tiles completed the design, giving 'Her' bathroom a nostalgic vibe. 
This is the first render of our guest, aka 'His', bathroom. He wanted a mix of big and small tiles, and, inspired by the 'Her' bathroom, he chose subway tiles but placed them vertically to give it his own twist. To keep the space bright, he went with a green, orange, and light grey colour scheme. We also decided to skip the glass partition to reduce the chances of any incidents, as this bathroom will be used by guests more frequently. And here’s what it looks like today. While tile shopping, we ended up choosing different tiles for the larger ones, but we managed to find similar tiles to the render for the green ones. Just like in the 'Her' bathroom, we kept the original HDB sink and added a wash basin base cabinet to conceal the pipes for a cleaner finish. 
Personally, we love how both bathrooms turned out. They didn’t stray too far from the original concept in the renders, and they're easily one of the most complimented parts of our home.
