Welcome to our minimalist home! We were Ambassadors for Season 3 and are thrilled to return for Season 6. Our motto remains the same: "Fewer things in the house, fewer things to clean!" This philosophy has shaped our living space and lifestyle, allowing us to focus on what truly matters. Over the past 2.5 years, we've embraced simplicity, creating a serene and clutter-free environment that brings us joy and peace. We hope our journey inspires you to find beauty in minimalism and appreciate the freedom that comes with having fewer possessions.
We chose a balanced flat as so that we wait lesser time for the flat to be built. However, covid strikes and building of flats were delayed. We checked in almost every month to see the progress. On the day that we opt for the flat, the flat was only built up till storey 3. Instead of waiting for 1.5 years, we had to wait 2.5 years for it.
Here are the 10 reasons why we chose that area:
1. It is near the highway! We do not have to go through so many other areas to meet the highway. Hence if we are late for anything, we could say, we are at the highway within minutes! Hehe!
2. The bus stop is right in front of our house! It is really a throw stone away. Easier for us to commute around too!
3. Sheng Siong supermaket is just behind our house. Not only that, it accompanies with bakery cafe, minimarts while selling waffles, salon, TCM & family clinics.
4. Punggol west community centre is also nearby whereby if there's any activities, or ticket collections on any events such as NDP event in Punggol, it is just there!
5. The nearest LRT is Soo Teck, which is one stop away to Punggol MRT.
6. Waterway point is just about 10-minutes walk from our house. However, we tend to take the bus since the frequency of the bus happens to be regular and it took us 5 minutes to reach to interchange via bus.
7. Warm and welcoming community. Whatsapp group were created and if there is any issues, the Resident Network committee would help us in any way. For example, if there's any news or complaint about cleanliness in the 1st storey lift lobby, we were all made aware quickly too and some one would call out the town council to help clear the bulky item. Basically, we felt extra safer with this whatsapp group created for our neighbourhood.
8. The carpark is the on the 1st floor as our block. Not only that, the pick up/ drop off point is also within the carpark.
9. There's childcare at our 2nd floor of our house area.
10. Soon there will be a mall that will develop diagonally opposite us!
Our living room window faced the garden and diagonally opposite we could see the playground. So just in case, our son played there and ignored his smartwatch, we could call out from our window to come home! Hehe!
Finally our layout of our house. We purposely look out for a household shelter that is 'hidden'. We found the one that the door opens in the kitchen! It took quite some time for our guest(s) to find where is our household shelter!
One major creation idea that we were proud of was our movable kitchen island! We could place it outside the kitchen if we need more kitchen space. Love this flow too!
...and another angle where we push in the movable kitchen island inside the kitchen to have more space in the living room. This is as so that our kids could run around at bigger spaces.
Thats our door! The reason why we chose 3rd floor is because we have 2 kids and we are aware of the possibilities that lift may be on maintenance, or spoilt at times which turns out to be true even though it is a whole new flat. Taking the short stairs will be a breeze for us!
We painted the gate white, and paste the door with white vinyl paper ourselves! You can read further on other few previous post about it!
