Before purchasing our unit, we had no idea what is a powder room. I looked it up online and a powder room is defined as below:
"A powder room is a smaller space that focuses on providing guests with a convenient place to use the toilet and to wash their hands to freshen up "
Basically it's the common toilet in a HDB flat. However the difference between a common toilet and a powder room does not come with shower facilities..just a sink and a toilet. our powder room is quite narrow and longish so there was not much we can change here. first 3D, Id used terrazzo tiles in an attempt to jazz the place up but we felt that it didn't fit the theme we were looking for and vetoed the idea haha.. went with plain tiles instead.
Since there was no shower area here, we opt to just paint the walls instead of tiling them. this helps to save money as well. In the end, we settled on a half coloured wall with a skirting in between. I am thinking seems like a more English/Victorian theme?
After moving in, we realised that it was a good move retaining the powder room as guests have a designated toilet to use and we could keep the privacy of our rooms during gatherings. And even more so, we realised that our kids like to use the powder room more than their own toilets sometimes!
Powder room with just the spotlight on..inviting atmosphere for our guests to freshen up..
We also opt to buy a vanity cabinet from a carousell seller instead of customising and got an arched mirror to tie in with the house's theme.
On the other side behind the toilet, we added a shelf so that we can put some decor to spruce up the powder room.
Husband also made a comment recently that he like the number of toilets in the house! wahahaha... no need to fight to use toilet as there are 4 toilets! With 3 women in the house, more toilets the merrier!
Of cos with 4 toilets, we are more diligent in cleaning and maintaining them. There you have it, 4 toilets in all.. finally finish the toilet series...
