Hello, we are KH & MS from @hwashan_, and we’re so glad you’re here with us!
Extra rooms are full of potential. They can be anything you want – a guest room, a kids’ space, or even a spot for your hobbies.
For us, we wanted a cozy guest room that matched the vibe of our home. We chose a color palette of cream, brown, and soft neutral tones, with hints of green and grey to keep it warm and welcoming. A small faux plant adds a touch of greenery, and the blinds help block the light when someone (we) needs a quick nap. 🌿
Our Kallax shelf does double duty! We’ve added books, small trinkets, and our COVID service medal (proud moment!). Our wedding photo albums are also there for guests to browse, or even for us when we are in the mood to reminisce. :)
We picked a stackable double single bed from IKEA. It’s super practical. When not in use, it saves space. Laid out with a bigger quilt, it easily transforms into a cozy movie nook.
Decor-wise, we laughed when ChatGPT roasted us on Instagram for being “Marie Kondo-level organized but with way too many trinkets.” 😂 But we think those little touches make the space feel personal. From a bunny nightlight and Iron Man figurine to small paintings and a caricature from our 2017 trip to Korea, each piece tells a story.
Our tip for new homeowners? Make it personal! Choose colors that set the right mood, add thoughtful details, and don’t worry about having a few extra trinkets that “spark joy.” It’s what makes your home truly yours.
We’re looking forward to hosting our first guest soon. Until then, we’re enjoying the cozy vibes. How have you transformed your additional room? We’d love to see what you’ve created. :)
