Weekends are the perfect time to recharge and get a few things done around the house. My weekend routine has become a blend of self-care, productivity, and a little adventure for my dog. We cannot start the day without our own homemade hot latte, using our heavily discounted DeLonghi coffee grinder and espresso machine - because we got it at a clearance sale. There’s something so comforting about sipping on a freshly brewed coffee while the world is still quiet in the morning.
What’s really important every weekend is getting our laundry done, especially for the husband’s work shirts. He has maybe 5 work shirts on rotation, and that means laundry must be done every weekend before the work week starts again. We are not worried even if it is the monsoon season in Singapore, because we use the Steigen laundry rack system which can hold a huge load of clothes and also comes with a hot air function that gets our clothes dry within the day.
We know it is a good habit to put everything that you have used back to its original spot once you no longer need to use it. But we often find ourselves rushing out for work in the morning on a weekday. By the time we are back from work, we are too tired to care about keeping things in order. Therefore, we have made it a point to declutter every weekend, getting rid of all unnecessary items and keeping away items, back in their intended spot.
Another one of the best investments we have made for our home was a robot vacuum. This is absolutely necessary if you have a dog at home who sheds non-stop throughout the day. While we decluttered the house, the robot is set to automatically come out for its daily vacuum at 10am. The mopping function is also turned-on on alternate days. There are spots where the vacuum cannot reach, and at times the power of the robot vacuum can be lacking, therefore in the middle of the day or in the evening we would supplement the clean with our dyson V12 vacuum, which has a green light - great for spotting hairs, dust and dog fur left on the floor.
When the chores are all done, it’s finally time for some fun. My dog is always excited for his weekend adventure, so we head out for a walk. Whether it’s a stroll around the neighborhood or exploring a new trail, it’s the perfect way to wrap up our weekend — a little movement, some fresh air, and a happy pup.
Hihi! Yes for our t-shirts, work shirts and home shorts they do dry within the day (or even just a few hours). Thicker clothes like sweaters or socks probably require abit longer. I also close my service yard windows to keep the heat “in”, which aids in the drying process :) hope this helps!
