  • We wanted our common bathroom to complement our house with the same color scheme - greys, black, walnut brown.. the vanity cupboard uses the same walnut brown, wood patterned laminate as the entrance of our bedroom and bedroom carpentry to create connectedness between spaces..

And a common question our guests will ask is .. “where’s your toilet ah?” haha often it’s a game of guess where? Here’s how we concealed our common bathroom behind this hidden door that blends seamlessly with the carpentry..
  • This means we get to build some extra storage in our common bathroom.. and also enlarges the perception of how big the bathroom is given the extra passageway created by the storage.. we opted for open shelving on one side so we could use baskets like these to keep our extra toiletries, toilet paper etc…

And we have a closed cabinet on the other side so we can keep our towels, bedsheets and all.. a closed cabinet also keeps dust and moisture from the towels and beddings.. Another tip we learnt from our ID is to build a half wall which is then connected to our vanity cupboard.. this is great for maintenance as there’s no gap between the vanity and the shower screen.. so no dust and water will get in between! And you also have less glass surface to clean as you have a half wall instead of a full shower screen on this side..

We also played with the shape of our wash basin with an “egg-shaped” basin.. which adds an interesting element to the bathroom.. instead of the usual black sanitary fittings, we opted for gunmetal color.. this perfectly complemented the grey tones.. this color is also easier for maintenance, as water stains and marks are less obvious compared to matte black color..
