This is our living room! We are extremely happy with the location of our buy. This living room is airy, bright and breezy. We do not get a lot of direct sunlight coming in so it is extremely comfortable. We have a confession to make and that is we have never been able to get much work done whenever we are home because this place is too chill.
Our living room has an iconic modern farmhouse look that we have witnessed in many of the inspirations we have seen. the main things that we needed to have were the shaker profile on the cabinetry, and the little wall lights that were purposefully chosen. We do not own a lot of decor so we have placed what we also currently have at the moment. The bottom av opening was supposed to mimic a fireplace style that most American Modern Farmhouse homes have.
The living room is perhaps one of the place that actually has built-ins, but very minimally. We have furnished the place with mostly all our furniture that we have moved over from our old place. We enjoy having the sofa away from the wall as it makes cleaning so much easier.
The pillows and throws have made leaving the sofa impossible. We do dream of having a sofa that is a little bigger, but we are quite satisfied with how this place is giving us the vibes to unwind.
A sneak peak into our cabinets: because we have kids who sticks to us like velcro, we have stored some of their puzzles, games and stationary in the cabinets for when they are downstairs with us.
There is a little space right next to our living area where we also house all the miscellaneous necessities. Our children's secrets are stored in here. This piece of furniture was also moved over from our old place.
It has a secret! We realise that we needed a space that can house all our 'chargeables' because sometimes we are having an area to transit and get ready, picking up accessories like our apple watches, hats, portable fans. So we diy-ed a little space by making a hole at the back of this chest of drawers to fit an extension cable insider to be able to charge our knick knacks.
Having modified a drawer to keep our chargeables have allowed us to leave the top of this furniture more clutter free. We have some supermarket flowers occasionally especially when we are having visitors over.
Do you know that a tip for keeping waters in vase clean is to put in some bleach? Apparently it doesn't really affect the rate of the flowers wilting so much either!
It does get dark in this corner of the house at night. We can't wait to find the perfect table lamp to add on to the style of this chest of drawers.
One reason why our space is so bright is because of the balcony doors that fits from almost end to end. We have also catered a little shelf and space for things that the children can 'dump' their toys in but still easy to put in place.
One of the reasons we had moved from our bto 4-room was for an upgrade in space. And the past few months have made us feel like it was all worth it!
A little backstory: Mister wanted a minimalist theme where missus's comment to that was that it was a theme impossible with kids.
We are glad to have also settled on this theme for the house as an anchor. Needless to say we are extremely in love with different elements that can be at play. It is like a marriage of what we both like, super kid-mess friendly, and can also be flexible in terms of budget management. Stay tuned for more about this soon!
