  • After a loooooong, exhausting day at work, nothing feels better than stepping into a warm, inviting bath. Other than a place to wind down after work, the bathroom is (sometimes) also a place where important decisions were made haha!

In a 5 room BTO, the master bathroom is sufficiently huge that we are able to fit a stand alone bathroom from HERA. Why did we choose a stand alone bathtub? 1) Integrated bathtub requires the removal of the toilet bowl first so that the bathtub can enter into the bathroom. 2) Integrated bathtub are harder to remove in the future if we want to change bathtub or do away with the bathtub. We went to the HERA showroom over at Grantral mall and tried the bathtub before deciding on it. So far it's been a good buy. We soak once every or twice every week and our water and utilities comes up to about $170-$180 per month. Cheaper than staycations :)
  • To reduce cost, we decided not to renovate the bathroom. Instead, we try to fit the existing tiles that came with the house when we first got the keys, while trying to introduce some wood elements into it. This bathroom sink setup exudes a sense of relaxation and order, with its clean lines, warm wooden accents, and soothing neutral tones. A sleek, modern faucet complements the pristine white basin, while a speckled stone soap dish and matching container add a touch of elegance. Whether you’re starting your day or winding down, this corner is all about good vibes and taking a moment for yourself. 🧖‍♀️✨
  • Step into a moment of tranquility with this unique blend of modern comfort and traditional Japanese charm. 🛁✨ At the center of the frame is a pristine toilet bowl, topped with an elegant Japanese ryokan-style scent diffuser, evoking the soothing aroma of hinoki wood and fresh bamboo. Beside it, a softly flickering candle adds a warm, calming glow. 🕯️ But the real star of the scene? A framed photo of a capybara blissfully soaking in a wooden ofuro (Japanese bath tub), embodying pure relaxation and the art of slowing down. 🦦💧 This quirky yet harmonious combination is a reminder to find joy in the little things and create your own oasis, even in the most unexpected places.

For the common toilet, we retained the HDB toilet fittings and installed shelves and shower kreb. Nothing else was done (reno-wise) to this toilet as this is a guest toilet and we do not foresee ourselves showering much here.

This isn't something common in a lot of houses, but let us introduce a product to you - poo drops! We got this from Hooga during christmas (there was a really huge sale). Now, it has become a quintessential part of our number 2 routine. Ventilation in toilet isn't always the best and to counter the smell (other than opening the small window), you can try using poo drops!
  • Similar to our master bathroom, all our fittings are from HERA bathroom. The vanity comes in a variety of length as well, so all you need to do is to find one that suits your space. We hung a cozy hand towel by the vanity, adding a touch of everyday comfort to the space. It’s the little details that make this spot feel like a retreat—a place to pause, breathe, and just be. To be really honest, our bathroom pales in comparison to a lot of other bathrooms that were tastefully renovated, with tiles overlayed and masonries done. Although it looks simple, we hope some of you might find this to your liking. Thank you for reading! :D

Save a lot of money!!! Haha my intention was if I stayed beyond 5 years (the MOP), then maybe I’ll Reno my toilet next time. Still kinda undecided on whether I will move or stay at Tengah for the rest of my life 😅
