Welcome to our outdoor space! Where our little deck of greens are! We were quite certain that we wanted to have an outdoor space of our own here because we absolutely love fresh air and the possibilities it can bring for what we can do in our home.
We got 2 deck chairs from taobao to be able to lounge outside. Being at the top floor gives us a lot of luxury of the open sky. We have the most amazing cloud scenes and sunsets. Best of all, we are sheltered from direct sunlight so this space has been extremely comfortable. Bonus for being still in view of the tv!
This was how it looked during reno stage. We were so excited to see the double ceiling height! One of the trickiest thing about hacking what used to be an indoor space is to coordinate when your balcony doors should be up. Because if it isn't up in time, your indoors are subjected to the unpredictable weather.
We chose to purchase some herbs like rosemary and mint. We never had the best of luck with rosemary but we find that with a different soil this nursery has put, that seems more clayey, it has worked for us rather well! Our flowering plants were all gifts and our little cat weed growing in the middle was a little plant from the supermarket.

We have very basic knowledge of plants so we rely alot on our parents who have better plant knowledge. We have found that there is considerable resources by Nparks if you are a beginning gardener! https://gardeningsg.nparks.gov.sg/
On days with the luxury of time, and good weather, we have a little bit of a barbecue
and on days with scorching weather, we pull out a little tub to cool the kids down and give ourselves some much needed peace for..... 30 minutes? We love our outdoor space and how it is finally giving our house plants the fresh air it needs.
