O hey there, welcome to our 4 room resale HDB in Kallang! This house is about 20 year old, and the total size is 90sqm / 969sqft. We are going for a minimalist style, but I can't resist pops of colour here and there, so scroll down as I give you guys a quick tour of our "minimalist" home :)
When we saw the floorplan of the house, we immediately fell in love with the squarish layout of the living area. We knew immediately that we wanted to knock down the L-shaped wall to open up the space.
And tadaa! Here is our living area with the kitchen walls knocked down. The space feels so much bigger, and the air circulation is so much better. This layout is also super great for hosting our family and friends!
Before I bring you into the kitchen, let's step back and have a tour of our living room! To be honest, we have no TV console yet (this explains the exposed wires). It is because I have a DIY planned for it but just don't have the time to execute. Hopefully by this week I shall start buying materials and get started on this project! Super excited to share the results once it's finished!
Oh yes and not forgetting our bomb shelter. Instead of concealing it, we decided to paint it black and make it our home's centerpiece instead! Really love the matte black look of it.
p.s. you'll see a glow from the top circle if you forget to switch off the bomb shelter's light
Here comes my favourite space of our home, the kitchen. With the walls knocked down, we extended the kitchen with a peninsula to form this open galley layout.
I absolutely love the peninsula as it gives me a large countertop space to prep food on. And don't know if you guys noticed it, but we actually don't have a service yard :0 More on this in our future posts.
p.s. the peninsula is also great for placing a buffet spread ;)
Our bedroom is kept very minimal with just a built-in wardrobe, headboard, and a Taobao platform bed. The headboard was originally in it's bare plywood form but we ended up painting it to match the walls.
And here's a quick peek at our wardrobe. The doors are actually bifold and sliding doors which took us multiple discussions to get here. Stay tuned to find out more!
p.s. the ledge below is actually our aircon trunking ;)
And finally, welcome to our not so minimal bathrooms! Long story short, I got tempted by the beautiful tiles in the tile shops and ended up adding feature tiles to both our bathrooms.
Here is the master bathroom, featuring black and white terrazzo tiles.
Last but not least.... My colourful non-minimalist study room! More like a work, sew, craft, creative room ;) The table is placed in the center of the room so I can move around the table freely while I sew or craft! Excited to DIY in here~
The yellow from my desktop wallpaper and the blue from my CPU is giving 😍
And here wraps up the virtual housewarming tour of our "minimalist" home! Looking forward share more and also to see all of you guys' beautiful homes <3
