Although our home is not fully decorated yet, I’ve started adding small, thoughtful touches that bring warmth, character, and intention to the space. I’m drawn to pieces that blend into our Japandi-inspired wabi sabi home, items that feel both functional and beautiful in their simplicity. This week’s mission is all about aesthetic household items, so I thought I’d share some corners of our home that already spark joy. This cozy spot features a floating shelf that holds a few of my favorite decorative pieces. Fun fact: the shelf is actually repurposed from our sintered stone kitchen countertop cutout. We had it polished and gave it curved edges to mirror the soft organic lines seen throughout the house. I love how it turned out, subtle yet intentional.

On the shelf, you’ll spot two types of coasters. One of them looks like a mini wooden tree, a cute yet sculptural piece that always catches attention.

The other is a stack of dark stone-like coasters that add grounding texture. Both blend beautifully with our Japandi and wabi sabi aesthetics, offering that mix of raw texture and simplicity I love.

Another small item I enjoy seeing every day is our flip-style day and date display. It’s clean, minimal, and functional, and yes, it helps me keep track of the days especially when weekends and weekdays blur together. A subtle nod to retro design that still feels very modern.

Moving to the bathrooms, I intentionally chose soap dispensers that complement the tones and materials of our tiles. One has a soft warm tone that pairs perfectly with our beige bathroom walls.

Another has a stone-like texture and deep grey tone that complements the cooler tiles in our master bath.

At the kitchen sink, I placed a stone-like dispenser with natural holes that give it an earthy, raw feel. It sits on a matching tray alongside a clear bottle used for my toddler’s bottle soap. The pairing is simple, purposeful, and blends in effortlessly with the rest of the space. Small details like these help create a cohesive and calming atmosphere.
