Welcome back to Ohsohhomely's Living Room!
We are very excited to be able to share what we have done in our living room and how we planned for things to be!
In June 2024, we collected our keys to our home after a 5 year wait. It was a blank canvas :)
As you can see here, our living room actually has a recessed wall but we decided to flush it with partition and reinforcements. It is now our feature wall and we are able to hide our wires to the TV within the partition!
Do let your IDs know early if you would like to flush the recessed wall and what will be on the wall. With a 65 inch TV mounted on it, we made sure that our ID is aware to have the reinforcements prepared behind the partition. We also communicated clearly that we are planning to hide all our wires thus there are 2 holes which allows us to connect the TV to the electrical plugs below without being seen.
We are very proud of our living room being able to host our 3.2m long sofa from Castlery. (my nickname for the sofa is 3.2!)
We saw this sofa 2 years ago and our eyes were locked on it ever since! We purchased it during 11.11 sales for better savings since it is quite pricey :')
Our day and night curtains from Secret Furnishing also comes with Motorised Tracks! With a slight tug, the night curtains will close by itself. So convenient! (we can also use the remote or app!)
Our feature wall is DIY painted by us using Raffles Paint in the colour MUTED MERCURY.
Trusting the processing was difficult. We did not like how the first 2 coat turned out but was pleasantly surprised after painting the third coat.
This took us 3 nights to paint as there were alot of contractors going in and out in the day.
We invested in smart lights as we wanted to be able to adjust them to the settings we like.
Also the smart lights prices were comparable to the initial non-smart lights we wanted to purchase! Remember to check before locking down your purchase. In fact we got them at the annual Comex Fair in a package and saved 25% of the initial price we were going to pay for non-smart lights!
On our niche we display alot of our favourite perfume and cologne since it was more convenient to spray when we're on the way out! We definitely use it a lot more now vs when we kept them in our room!
Speaking of smart lights, we also installed LED on our carpentry to give our living room a cosy feel!
This we usually turn on during movie nights or when we're chilling around with friends!
Reminder to ask your ID or get quotation of the LED lights when you're consolidating the costs. Our ID suggested many LED lights around the house and we NEVER realised that they were not in our quotation.
Right at the end of our renovation before the LED lights were installed, we had a rude shock with a $700 quotation for LED lights ONLY!!!! By then it was too late to turn back. We paid and never looked back. (Utilising it as much as we can now!)
Hope this gives you some heads up and inspiration for your living room!
For now, we are keeping it minimal but we will be adding in more furniture in time to come :) Please stay tune!
