Our five-year-old has been obsessed with rainbows and unicorns, so this room was designed specially for her. We didn't want anything that's permanent at all, because she may be into mermaids tomorrow.
So we kept the walls white, and made the star of the room this Friendly Rainbow Wall Decal by Koziel from Honpo. It is amazingly easy to apply to our own, and brightened up the room instantly!
We keep this area flexible as well, with the intention of buying a proper study desk in the future. Currently, we are using this Montessori wooden desk.
The floor tiles are the same throughout the house, and continue into the bedrooms too. We prefer this to vinyl, as we feel it will last longer.
Flexibility was key when we are planning this room, so we opted for no built-ins. We chose this cosy bedframe from Kids Haven because it offers the option to turning this into a standard bed when our daughter grows up.
We strung some IKEA string lights around the bedframe to make the room even cosier! The duvet is from NEXT online, and it's glow-in-the-dark!
This is our reading corner, with a bookshelf of her favourite books. We stuck her colouring and artwork on the wall to instil a sense of pride.
The armchair has served us so well over the years - as it reclines nicely, it's really comfy!
Again, we kept things flexible on the other side of the wall - with wall shelves for changing displays of toys and artwork, as well as a moveable trolley of her favourite unicorn plushies.
We are keeping most of her clothes in this 5 drawer chest, and it's enough! This also allows her to pick her own outfits!
For our boy's room, we chose a woodland theme. We repurposed our old double bed into a floor bed to allow him to climb up and down easily.
Again, as we expect changing needs and preferences, we kept this room simple with no built-ins. His SOJAO sheets are amazing crisp and comfy!!
We put two low bookshelves here to encourage our boy to choose his own books before bedtime. It has been working wonderfully so far - accessibility is key to encourage regular reading!
We displayed his baby photos and also some of his favourite toys and flowers on the wall. Some of his clothes are kept in this affordable chest of drawers from Shopee.
An old Casio piano is kept here, because he shows more inclination for music than his sister!
Both bedrooms turned out beautifully, and our kids love spending time in their respective spaces. It's where they feel most safe, comfortable and happy!
