We decided to take on the design of our flat ourselves and forgo hiring an interior designer for a couple of reasons: 1. The cost of hiring an interior designer was quite steep, likely due to the major renovation work our home needed. 2. Our contractor, who did a fantastic job on our first BTO home without an interior designer, was also going to assist with our second place. 3. We had a clear idea of the home style we wanted. On that note, inspiration can often come from the most unexpected places!
During a staycation a few years ago at Capri by Fraser Changi City, we stayed in a room with a lounge area right in the bedroom. It was such a memorable feature that we decided to incorporate it into our second home, if space permits.
(Before - Master Bedroom) When we learned that the previous owners had removed the wall between the master and secondary bedrooms, we saw it as the perfect opportunity to create the lounge area we had always envisioned, instead of spending additional money to restore the wall. Yay!!
By "extensive renovation work," we meant we stripped everything down.
