Working from home has become the norm for many of us, and thus, many dedicate a room for WFH days. However, my husband and I rarely work from home due to the nature of our jobs. Hence, we decided to go for an open study setup.
We knocked down the walls of the room adjacent to our living room, allowing more natural light to flow into other areas of the house. There's a short structural wall here that can't be hacked, but it nicely defines the space between the living room and the open study.
Our home workspace setup is pretty simple. It’s basically what my husband had in his previous room, and we just brought it over to our new place.
Since the table is pretty short, we had to find other storage solutions for our stationery and other stuff. We ended up with an IKEA trolley because we can easily wheel it aside to clean the space. We really love our IKEA trolleys—we have four around the house! Spot them all in our posts :)
It's our dream to have a library wall. However, we didn't want built-in carpentry, as we wanted to maintain more flexibility in the space for the future. Hence, we went with the popular BILLY bookcases from IKEA.
Initially, we were thinking of painting the bookcases with a darker wood stain. However, the wood colour, similar to our vinyl flooring, is kind of growing on us - it feels like a continuous flow. What do you guys think?
