We planned the door sizes based of our sink and induction cooker first and worked from there. This resulted in a small space between the sink and the induction cooker.
This is where we decided to add a spice rack drawer and this I can tell you is the best decision made. With this rack, we've hidden all of our commonly used condiments, keeping our countertop clean and clear.
Another decision we've made to achieve a minimal looking kitchen is to extend our countertop material up to the walls as our backsplash. With this, we don't introduce more patterns or colours to the kitchen and bonus, this made cleaning up after cooking so much easier due to the material and absence of grout lines.
Do you realise there are no wires visible? This is because we've hidden them behind the appliances. Before finalising our electrical plan, we ensured to get the height of our appliances so that we can decide on what height our sockets should be at to stay hidden.
See our dining room post to see how the sockets look like behind!
Not only the sockets and wires, we've also hidden the switch to our induction cooker, hood, oven, and LED light. The switches are located right underneath our top cabinets and is blocked by the cabinet door. Not only the switches stay hidden from afar, the switches are also still accessible as compared to placing the switches entirely in the cabinets.
And yes there's more you can hide in a kitchen. Our dish soap is also hidden right underneath the sink! We've bought this soap dispenser for our contractors to install, and connected it to a 5L dish soap right underneath. Not only this made our countertop free from soap bottles, it has also removed the need to keep refilling the soap bottles!
