Hi everyone!
Here are a few personal tips on how I made my entryway warm, inviting — and still entirely functional.
For many homes, the entryway is seen as a purely practical space, often filled with built-in cabinets to hide the mess. I’m no different — I love a good storage solution! But I also believe the space should feel intentional, not like a dumping ground for things we don’t want to see.
That’s why I try to approach it with a mindset of mindful living — letting the space guide what I keep there. Not just for function, but also as a way to prevent over-buying and accumulating things that disappear into this corner of my home for years.
f you can, place a mirror near your entryway — it’s a great way to do a quick check and make sure you’re looking snazzy before heading out the door!
According to feng shui, mirrors are totally fine in this space as long as they’re not placed directly opposite the front door. It’s believed that doing so might reflect good fortune out of your home — and we definitely want to keep the good vibes in!
There’s nothing like having a good bench to sit on while putting on your shoes — comfort and function in one! 👟✨
I also store my reusable bags here, though you can’t see them… because I’ve cleverly covered them with Furoshiki — a multifunctional traditional Japanese cloth that adds a soft touch while keeping things tucked away neatly. Beautiful and practical!
A shoe horn might seem like a small thing, but it’s seriously underrated — especially a long one! 🙌
With a longer shoe horn, you don’t even have to sit down. Just slide your feet in and go. It’s the little things that make everyday routines smoother!
In both old and new homes, the DB box or internet connection point is often fixed near the entryway — not exactly the prettiest sight to welcome you home.
Since I didn’t want to install a built-in that would make my already small space feel even smaller, I chose to get creative. A mix of decor, greenery, and a little styling magic helped me hide the messy wires without losing valuable space.
And of course, there’s nothing like seeing your favourite quote before stepping out the door — a daily little reminder to start the day right.
As you can probably tell by now, I’m all about bringing good vibes into my space — and into myself! ✨ The top of my shoe cabinet is often styled with small items that help me do just that.
I love having things I can easily grab on the way out, but they also need to look good just sitting there. Function and aesthetics can totally coexist — even in the tiniest corners of the home!
Shoutout to my “福” sign on the door — it’s been there since I moved in about a year ago, just a day before Chinese New Year! Still holding strong and blessing my home ever since. ✨🍊
Other items like scented candles and fragrant incense live here too — because who doesn’t love being welcomed home with a beautiful scent? It’s such a simple way to set the mood and instantly lift the energy of the space.
Here’s how I organise my shoes — and no, I didn’t tidy them just for this photo. They really stay like this all the time! 👟✨
I stick to one simple rule: I only own as many pairs as this space can hold. If it’s full, I don’t buy more. It’s a small habit, but it really helps me keep things tidy and clutter-free.
This is where I store the shoes I don’t use as often — in my case, mostly boots. I also love using these “Ultimate” collapsible containers from Daiso. They’re perfect for organising smaller items around the home, and just like everything else, they help ensure that every item has a proper home — so I always know where to find what I need.
Oh, and one more thing — I strongly believe every home should have fire extinguishers placed in key spots. Safety first, always! 🔥
I’m also a little obsessed with labelling — every one of my four drawers is clearly labelled so that anyone (including me!) always knows what’s inside. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference.
Labelling helps ensure that everything has a home — which also means I’m less likely to over-buy or let clutter build up over time.
More labels!
They’re especially helpful for house guests, in case they need to use anything. It also helps avoid any accidental “oops” moments, like switching off the Wi-Fi or turning off the wrong light. A little label can go a long way in keeping things smooth and stress-free for everyone!
And that’s all for my entryway know-how! 😊
If you have any questions or tips of your own, feel free to drop them in the comments — I’d love to hear them. I’m always looking for new ways to organise better and smarter.
Until my next post — see ya and happy tidying! 👋✨
