When designing our kitchen layout, one of the key things we wanted was a coffee nook. It's actually pretty easy to set up one and we really like having a dedicated area to make coffee (and tea too actually!)
To create a coffee nook, we carved out some space from our kitchen carpentry, just enough to put a coffee machine and some space to prepare our drinks. We also added a ledge to store items that we will regularly reach out to.
We set up our coffee nook beside our fridge, for easy access to the milk in our fridge. We also deliberately switched the casing of our sockets and switches to matte black to blend in with the carpentry. Don't forget to cater for enough electrical points at your coffee nook!
Next key thing is of course the coffee machine itself! For us, we went with a Breville machine, with a built-in grinder, so we can minimise the number of gadgets. We also added LED lights in this corner, both for functionality and the ambience.
We also bought a couple of accessories to go with the coffee machine. This is the dosing cup to minimise spillage, as compared to grinding directly to the portafilter.
Here's all the additional accessories that we've bought. The two that were not mentioned above are the distributor and puck screen, which are really just good to have!
