When we bought this house, we are very clear that we not just want to design it to be aesthetically pleasing, but also extremely dog proof! Our two beagles are excellent food hunters, so the height of the counters are made higher so that even when they try to make a jump, they can't counter-surf!
We love the squarish layout with a big space to work on. It was a relatively old 5 room resale flat, which offers a great deal of space to play around with configurations!
We did a few configuration changes, and the most notable one is the bathrooms!

Both our bathrooms were extended. The Common bathroom is where we bathe our dogs. Beagles are known to shed. So we were very clear that we needed an enclosed bath area for the dogs. We also created a settee in the bathroom so that we can put the dogs on it while we blow dry them.
The second most notable configuration change we did was to hack down the walls of the service yard and the entryway to create one big kitchen. We opted for an open shelving kitchen so as to provide accessibility to cooking knickknacks and food preparation workflow.
The wall between the kitchen and entry way was also hacked to create a more welcoming kitchen. At the same time, gives it a good ventilation when we are cooking. The island table doubles up as a dining table to prevent our two rogue beagles from attacking our food! Because of this, we had to customise our bar stool bench. We decided on a bench instead of individual stools so that we can squeeze more people on it when we are hosting friends/families for dinner.
