Hi there!
We’re starting off in the coziest space of our house – the living room. Everything is kept neutral and warm, with pops of orange and terracotta-brown contrasted against white/cream tones. We also incorporated natural elements through the rustic wood coffee table to ground the space.
Will show more of our forest green sofa in the next post (stay tuned!), but in the meantime, enjoy this wider shot of the living space…
One more thing: the white linen day curtains truly make the area more airy and dreamy (the husband calls it “heavenly”) by introducing diffused light. Nothing beats a cup of coffee here on weekend mornings and feeling the sunlight flowing in…
Welcome to everyone’s favourite area of the house: our foyer! Inspired by local cafes, we constructed a half wall and created a curve feature to break up the monotony of the terracotta tiles and glass blocks — what’s left is a really unique entrance space that gives off a strong first impression. Also love how this area acts a clear transition space to demarcate the outside and the inside. Not forgetting the unfinished cement screed curved bench (that can withstand up to 300kg apparently) for wearing shoes and waiting to leave the house.
Adding to the cafe feels of this space is our coffee station. Always look forward to my daily morning routine of making an iced latte before heading off to work.
Our dream kitchen brought to life: a modern farmhouse style open-concept kitchen with a chimney hood and other chrome elements to punctuate the cooking area. The top half of the carpentry with cream and light wood laminates pairs well with the dark-mid tone wood of the bottom half. Shoutout to the amazing Vulcan sintered stone counter-top (in Benito) - absolutely no regrets choosing this design.
Another cafe-like feature is our dining space. Somehow our guests always gravitate to the bench seats, so no regrets forking up that extra carpentry cost to create this breakfast nook area. It also doubles up as extra storage!
Again, breaking up the blockish look of the bench is our semi-curved table and soft elements like pillows and a draping cream table cloth. Special mention to our mismatched dining chairs, specially sourced from our great neighbour up north (JB). Recommend everyone to check out Ruma for amazing quality home pieces at amazing prices!
A close second favourite space is the guest/common bathroom. With most of the house in neutral warm and wood tones, we wanted our bathrooms to feature more colours and be abit fun and thematic. We’d say the vibe of this bathroom is a blend of a hotel-feel, mcm, farmhouse (?)… Regardless, we love how the B&W elements contrast against the green tiles, and the wood shelvings add a certain softness that ties this tiny space all together.
Does our bedroom evoke zen vibes? We converted bedroom 2 into a room purely just for sleeping, because we love a night of undisturbed rest. Kept the colours neutral and simple to induce maximum calm and relaxation…
Call us crazy but the master bedroom was converted into a full-on wardrobe room and vanity. No regrets though! This was the perfect compromise for a couple who wakes up for work at different times and has different sleep schedules…
Last but certainly not least, another injection of colour, this time in the master toilet. We collectively love the colour blue and needed to incorporate it into our home in some way. Contrasting the blue-tiled feature wall is the onsen-inspired shower area with a half wall half glass situation for easy maintenance. Also love that we could introduce travertine (one of my favourite stones) via the basin and the mirror.
