Hello there! We're thrilled to share our journey as new homeowners of a 5-room BTO flat in the west side of Singapore. It's been a whirlwind since we moved in just a month ago, and our home is still very much a work in progress.
When we started the renovation process, we didn't have a specific theme in mind. All we knew is that we wanted to incorporate an arch and an island into our home, all while staying within a budget of $35K – quite a feat considering the rising costs of renovations these days! As we collaborated with our interior designer, we gradually shaped a theme, and the outcome you see today is the result of 2.5 months of dedicated work.
As you step inside our home, your attention might initially be captured by the bomb shelter to the left. We thus opted to cleverly conceal it using a tic-tac mechanism, seamlessly blending it into our living space.
Our favorite room in the house – the living room. To make the most of this area, we divided it into two sections: one dedicated to dining, and the other for relaxation.
We intentionally chose not to include a TV console, as we have a Samsung Frame TV that we believe should seamlessly blend into the room.
And to infuse a touch of nature into our living room, we've added a tasteful faux plant that adds vibrancy to the muted color scheme.
Our kitchen island is the focal point of our kitchen. It's where we do most of our meal prep due to our limited counter space, and it also provides storage for our larger kitchen appliances.

We decided to skip the top cabinets to create a more open and spacious feel in the kitchen. All our kitchen appliances are chosen in a neutral beige color for a cohesive look.
While our living room leans towards muted tones, we decided to go bold and bright with our bathrooms. In the master bedroom's bathroom, it boasts shades of bluish green and orange for a pop of fun.
Our bedroom is intentionally kept simple and functional with a built-in wardrobe, a comfortable bed, and a compact dresser. This space is primarily reserved for peaceful slumber, so simplicity is key.
This space doubles as her workspace for two out of five workdays and provides storage for her bags and miscellaneous items, thanks to strategically placed dressers.
In the evenings, our space becomes a cozy retreat, courtesy of the warm, soft lighting we've chosen to create the perfect ambiance for unwinding in our living room.
We can't wait to see our home evolve further as we continue to add personal touches and refinements. Stay tuned for more updates on our exciting homeowner journey!
