Stay till the end to see how we turned THIS ⬆️ massive faux eucalyptus tree into a Hari Raya Tree that’s celebration-ready! And can you believe that it’s faux?! In the modern organic theme, greenery plays a huge role, so we made sure to fill our home with lush, vibrant plants and they’re all permanently thriving without any effort!
Back in our previous home, I was a full-fledged plant parent, with lush greenery inside, outside, and all along the corridor. It was so abundant that friends and followers nicknamed it "Gardens by the Corridor"...a title I wore with pride! 😊 Working as a Social Media Manager at a well-known nursery didn’t help my self-control either! With a steady supply of gorgeous live plants at my fingertips, I was constantly bringing home a new leafy friend!
But then, Covid happened, and during it we adopted Bucky, our fluffy little chaos agent. Suddenly, plant shopping came with an extra step: checking if they were non-toxic. And then post-Covid, we found ourselves traveling more, and keeping plants alive became more stressful than enjoyable. So, we made the big switch: out with the real, in with the faux! No more worrying about watering schedules, wilted leaves, or emergency plant sitters!
Now with the new home, we’ve fully embraced this faux-rest philosophy, proving that you can still be surrounded by lush greenery without the worry, wilt, or watering can!
Most of our faux plants are brought over from our previous home, with a few new additions here and there. Here are some of them on the first floor:
We have faux greenery in every corner of the home, also our dining area which is not pictured above, where we have a few small pots of faux plants.
We love being surrounded by plants so much that even our bathrooms and kitchen aren’t spared! Having faux plants in the bathrooms and kitchen gives a forever-fresh look with zero maintenance. 👍🏽
In the bathroom, the faux plants bring a spa-like vibe and nature-inspired calm...
And...our plants aren’t confined to just inside the house! Guests are greeted by faux greenery right at the main entrance, setting the tone for a fresh, inviting atmosphere from the moment they arrive!
A curated selection of faux plants from Hooga, Ikea, Spotlight, and SSF Home next to our gate. ♡
↓ And this is on the opposite side, facing our main gate!
The only live plant we have INSIDE the home is in our dining space, which is a vase of fresh olive leaves and white roses. We replace them every 1.5 weeks since that area gets a lot of direct sunlight, but we don’t mind because they add such a beautiful touch of elegance and freshness. Plus, they’re non-toxic, so they’re safe for Bucky!
And remember how I mentioned we’re ringing in the Raya mood with our very own Hari Raya Tree? Well, I decided to take a little inspiration from CNY and Christmas decor I often see and dress up some of the greens around our home with cute Raya touches!
First, check out the mini ketupats on our olive leaves! 😍
Just like Christmas baubles add a touch of festive charm to a Christmas tree, these wooden Raya ornaments bring a unique and special twist to our Raya celebrations!
It has definitely become the centerpiece of our Hari Raya celebrations and really sets the tone for a joyful and vibrant Raya atmosphere. ♡
Time to wrap up this post, and we hope faux plants have totally won you over just like they did for us! They really add the perfect pop of greenery—minus the stress! Some friends have asked how we care for our faux plants, especially when it comes to dust. It’s actually super simple! We just carry them into the bathroom, give them a good spray down to clear away any dust, and wipe them down to dry. For the larger ones, their branches can be removed, so we detach them, wash them under running water, reattach them, and give the trunk a wipe with a wet cloth. Easy peasy!
It’s been such a fun ride in Season 8, sharing all the little corners of our home with you. We’re so excited to be back for Season 9, where we’ll be diving into more topics and showcasing even more corners of our space. We can’t wait to share it all! To all our Muslim readers, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri! Wishing you a joyous and blessed celebration with loved ones.
xoxo
