Hi there! After living in our place for 4 months, we would like to share some of our challenges and what we feel has worked for us so far. While we really love the space we have created, maintaining it has been a learning experience filled with trial and error.
The Challenges
1. Single Light-Coloured Tile In The Common Bathroom
• Con: Dirt is very noticeable, and the uniform colour feels a bit plain.
• What we’d do differently: Choose darker tiles for the flooring to hide dirt more effectively and add contrast to the space.
2. Lighting in Common Rooms
• Con: Harsh lighting makes the room feel warmer than it should.
• What we’d do differently: Opt for softer lighting options to create a more comfortable and inviting atmosphere.
3. Dishrack Door
• Con: The door obstructs the opening of our service yard door.
• What we’d do differently: Choose a design that opens up vertically rather than pivoting outward.
The Wins
Despite the challenges, here are some of the decisions we feel have enhanced the functionality of our home:
• Built-In Cabinets: Less dust & clutter
• Lighting Choices: Using layered lighting (LED strips and dimmable options) creates an inviting ambience
• Durable Flooring: Scratch resistant and watertight
• Sintered Stone Tabletops: Easy maintenance
The journey of maintaining a home is ongoing, but with each adjustment, it becomes a more functional and enjoyable space to live in. Thanks for reading till the end! :)
