Our dining space is centered around our 90x200cm dining table with mood lighting
As our dining table shares the same space as our wall kitchen, we had to custom make it to be narrow enough to leave space for guest to walk (usually to the washroom), and long enough to fit at least 8 guests.
Here's a look at our DIY mirror grid wall to help enlarge the space.
We started making it during the last stages of our handover from the contractor. The workers got so stressed looking at us do it (would've probably turned out crooked), that they helped us!
Our little island features a nice grained marble top from Dekton that is non porous. It houses the wine fridge and dishwasher!
We also have a bar shelf that allows us to hang our wine glasses to dry and storage for the wine glasses built into the island.
Before & After of our dining space! We knocked down the wall to make the space feel more spaces!
Challenges unique to a 40 year old HDB apartment
- the walls need to be straightened
- pipes and electrical need to be changed
- random pipes and columns to design around (thank God for ID and contractors)
On the upside, you get a large and squareish layout with free reign to recreate the space 👌
We were boring and practical so we stayed with a wall kitchen 🤓
Our recessed shelf in the dining room let's us display some cook books, and items of decor, it also has a hidden doggy door! It also has handy storage for items we use to host like napkins and extension cords for our hot pot.
Here's the hidden doggy door that goes between the dining room and bedroom :)
