Welcome to our dining area! This is a space where we transformed it into a modern luxe retreat as we embrace the luxury and make every moment extraordinary.
The why and the how of this round table:
- Mister E and I knew we wanted to conceal the bomb shelter and house our many shoes (share more when we walk you all through our entryway!) Due to the tight space available, the place will be even more constrained if we were to create a dining settee.
- The L shape corner is perfect for a round table as it maximises space. As round tables have smaller footprints, this makes them suitable for smaller spaces. It can also fit more people if we have extra guests. And so a round table it is!
It was love at first sight when we saw this table from Comfort Furniture. We like how the golden leg adds a touch of glamour to the space. Another plus point is that the table's sintered top finishing was consistent with our kitchen top's pattern, making transition to the kitchen seamless. We absolutely love how our dining chairs go so well with the dining table.
With the confirmation of our dining table and chairs, we subsequently decided on our dining light. It certainly took us a while to find the perfect light. We love this design because it is filled with curves, which complements our round dining table.
One special feature of our dining light is that it comes with a remote control and is a smart light. The Mesh2.4G remote control allows us to adjust the colour, brightness and intensity of the lights. One dining light, four different vibes, with varying light intensities. Love it!
On days where we want to enjoy a cozy and romantic meal, we use the warm yellow light. The strategically placed accent lights certainly create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
We use these stackable chairs when we have guests over. The maximum number of people that this table can sit is 8. Mister E and I try to keep our guests numbers small cause we absolutely love catching up with our loved ones over cozy and intimate sessions.
On our WFH days, the dining space is made versatile where we convert this area into a workspace. This is where we use the white light to ensure maximum productivity.
We created a personalised niche as we feel that this is a beautiful way to celebrate our cherished memories. We adorned it with meaningful mementos and treasured keepsakes and incorporated elements that reflect our personal styles. This dedicated space not only serves as a constant reminder of our most precious moments but also adds a warm, personal touch to our home.
This momento holds a special meaning. During the renovation, I remembered being really hung up with making our house a perfect one cause first home syndrome haha. But in all seriousness, I later learnt an important lesson and that is, to embrace the journey of building a home, for it’s in the process where true beauty and memories are made, not in the pursuit of perfection. Did this pottery to remind myself of this beautiful lesson.
Besides the dining table, the island table is also another part of our dining space. Like our dining curved light, this island light can produce three different colours for different feels and purposes. Some days, we turn on the white light to conduct our work meetings here too.
On some occasions, we turn this area into a space to celebrate and host our loved ones! I absolutely cherish our treasured loved ones in our lives dearly and love to celebrate milestones, big and small together. Afterall, life is meant to be celebrated right? :)
I absolutely love decorating the island to make our guests feel welcomed. As I am a fan of flowers, I sometimes spruce up this area by incorporating fresh flowers lovingly gifted by Mister E!
We love how our island extends all the way into the kitchen. This long space allows us to display and put quite a substantial amount of food when hosting our loved ones.
On days where it is just myself and Mister E, I love to explore recipes and cook a comforting meal for the both of us after a hard long day of work. Nothing beats coming back to home-cooked food and seeing the smile on the hub's face.
Absolutely love quiet mornings, having our HTHTs over coffee and yummy breakfast. This definitely fuels us and gets us ready to take on the day. Oh yes, did we also mention how we also made this island area functional by building cabinets on the other end to store our kitchen items? Stay tuned for our kitchen post!
In conclusion, our dining space is more than just a place to eat. It is a sanctuary where style meets comfort and memories are crafted with every meal. The harmonious blend of modern luxe elements ensures that every dining experience is elevated, making it a perfect setting for both intimate family dinners and elegant gatherings. Here’s to countless meals, shared stories, and unforgettable moments in a dining space designed for life's finest pleasures.
