Hi everyone! I’m back with a new post, this time about my restful retreat.
I wanted my bedroom to be a serene space that would lull me to sleep. In the past, when I lived with my parents and rented, my room had to serve multiple purposes: studying, playing, and sleeping. Now that I own my home, I can finally have a room dedicated solely to rest.
I want to give a special shoutout to HipVan for this incredible storage bed. Not only is it easy to lift up to reach the storage compartment, it’s also amazing how much I can store in there! Currently, it houses a full-sized piano keyboard, a whole mahjong table (+ tiles and chips), an extra single mattress for stayover guests, extra bedsheets, my camera gears and even a packed-up 1.8m Christmas tree, amongst other knick knacks!
The initial idea was to keep this room free of electronic distractions. However, after careful consideration, I decided to install a TV for several reasons:
1. This was my old TV from my previous rental. It was still in good working condition, so I didn’t want to discard it.
2. I enjoy watching space documentaries at night to help me sleep. I figured this would be a more pleasant experience on a TV than on my phone, where other apps are within reach and could tempt me to stay connected.
3. I wanted the additional option to watch a movie in bed, other than my living room.
For these reasons, here it is!
I love being able to set or turn off my alarm with voice commands, hands-free, and without opening my eyes to do so. A Google device was the obvious choice.
I also love the minimalist and stylish design of my phone charger. It’s actually a beige-coloured silicone case that I attached my MagSafe charger to!
These are my comfort books that help lull me to sleep. Books about space and philosophy are both subjects of interest to me, and surprisingly, they have a calming effect that helps me drift off! It’s a bit of an oxymoron, isn’t it?
Behind my blackout curtains, where one might expect to find windows, is a hidden walk-through wardrobe! I love how this multi-functional design keeps my bedroom clutter-free and visually neat!

I opted for minimalist nightstand wall lamps which I had attached with smart bulbs. It's a simple yet functional choice, and I love that I can control the lighting with a simple voice command. In fact, all the light bulbs in my house are smart!
I grew up fearing sudden intrusions at night, perhaps due to the trauma of my parents entering my old room without knocking, haha! This smart fingerprint and keypad door handle (it can be controlled via an app too!) provides the peace of mind I need for a restful sleep!
That’s all for my bedroom tour!
