Welcome to our communal dining area! This is one of my favourite spots in the house because it's where everyone we love gets together for a meal or game.
This space was initially proposed as a study room, but we did not go ahead with our plan to build a study room as we wanted to keep our living room as spacious as possible, and to also keep to a open-concept living space for our house.
Our theme is modern farmhouse villa, with a touch of balinese style. (which explains a lot of rattan!) A lot of decor and furniture pieces we chose are mainly wooden elements and calming neutral colours.
Our table is a customised 1.8m piece from a furniture store specialising in wooden furnitures at Tan Boon Liat Building.
Plants add a little cosy touch to our dining area, and I enjoy having fresh blooms on our table to brighten up the space occasionally.
I love the view from the window whenever I work at our communal dining area, especially when the soft morning light gently enters our house.
Our plants at our table are very happy too when they get their daily dose of vitamin D too!
Since we enjoy a lot of ventilation in the house, we installed a corner fan from Vento (got it from Tampoi in JB) and it's a lifesaver in the daytime! Our space can get a little hot but the fan does help a lot in cooling down the house during the day.
Wanted to also shoutout on our auto blinds that we sourced from Taobao! We found a vendor on Taobao, gave them the measurements and we had it delivered via a third-party freight forwarder. Then, we got a handyman specialising in installation of Taobao furnitures to come over and installed it for us! Easy peasy.
We customised this bench cover for our dining bench from Shopee, and it's perfect! During Christmas, our guests were seated at our dining area having dinner and playing games for more than 6-7 hours, but it was comfortable for them.
Our bench came together with the table from the furniture vendor at Tan Boon Liat building as well. The quality isn't superior but it is still strong enough to support at least 4 guests at once on this bench!
Our wishbone dining chairs are also a joy to have in our space, it's airy and comfy - especially during hot days!
We got it together from the furniture vendor at Tan Boon Liat building too.
Lastly, I love our rattan lights from Taobao so much!
It's truly one of the highlights that complete the entire aesthetic vibe in that area. Also, we got it from Taobao and got our contractor to install them! Saw many of these during our stays in various villas in Bali, and I knew that we had to have it in our future home.
And fast forward today, here they are in our home!
& this rounds out the little tour around our dining space. I hope you enjoyed it!
