Lighting is more than just a practical necessity—it is the key to creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere at home. In this post, we will be sharing how we illuminate our home beautifully and effectively!
Our entrance foyer cabinet niche greets all to our home. In this niche, we have placed Mrs’ prized possessions for display. We have added LED light strip here to create a stunning display that draws attention and adds character to our space. At the same time, it is also functional to illuminate the niche area as that area does not get much natural day sunlight.
At our entrance foyer, we placed two “milk can” lights. We have specifically chosen white milk can lights to blend into our white and light brown Japandi theme. The milk can lights brings about charm and provides soft inviting illumination. One important tip to consider is whether you need two-way light switches for the light near the entrance foyer. For us, we have planned it such that one of the light here is operated by a two-way switch, so that we need not walk back all the way to the main door area to switch off the lights. Instead, we can also switch it off at our corridor aisle walkway area when we move further into our house. This creates convenience and flexibility! Do consider this when planning the electrical switches for your house.
Continuing the Japandi theme for our living room area, we specifically picked this pendant light in white and brown design. We also specifically picked a pendant light that was operated by light bulbs for easy maintenance in future should it fuse out.
Our track light comes in three adjustable light hues – day light, cool white and warm white. This allows us to create the appropriate atmosphere we desire throughout the day and for setting different modes.
Learning from experiences from our previous home, one non-negotiable and must-have for the house for us is TASK LIGHTING for the kitchen! Task lighting ensures precise and focused illumination where you need, especially at the meal prep and cooking areas.
The last tip we will like to share is on the lighting for the service yard area! If you are considering to get an automated laundry rack, be sure to check out whether the brand you are getting comes with built-in lighting! If it does, you need not install another lighting point in the service yard, but can just rely on the one from the automated laundry rack directly! This will bring about combines convenience and functionality, illuminating your laundry area while optimizing space and drying efficiency!
