Hi everyone! We're G (Him) & H (Her) and we're both office workers, except H works from home almost 100% of the time (something G is always envious of hahaha). No surprise on the main person behind this account :)
We've waited almost 5.5 years since BTO application and we're proud to now say.. Welcome to our 4-room Coastal Farmhouse tour!!
Our home is located in the East, 95 sqm in size and comes with 100% Optional Component Scheme (OCS) which we couldn't opt out of, which on hindsight, thankfully it suits most part of the theme we wanted. See if you can spot which ones are part of OCS as we bring you through our house tour!
We wanted to create an environment which is bright, airy and relaxing with some greenery. So instead of the classic blue palette, we went with a unique green with slight blue undertone as the statement colour of our home.
This coastal green kitchen door is definitely the statement piece of our home! The colour palette were suggested by our ID and we're very pleased with how it turned out! :)
This is where we spent most of our time on the manual 3-seater recliner sofa, which we were so so glad to be able to find it in the exact same green as our Kitchen Door!
We kept this space simple with the decorative arch wall and green sofa as the statement piece, while retaining the clean, bright and airy vibe.
We opted for loose furniture in Living Room so we can change it up and move them around in the future.
Tip: If you're planning to get a Robot Vacuum, make sure it's able to go under your TV Console if it's not flushed to the floor!
The toughest part of renovating and styling our home is actually the structural wall at Dining area (facing the main door). We had lots of back-and-forth discussion with our ID around this wall & whether to do an open-kitchen or hack Bedroom 3's L-shape wall so that the dining area doesn't look too dark and squeezy.
We eventually gave up the idea after knowing the additional costs involved as we wanted to keep within our renovation budget of no more than $40,000 (excluding GST).
Only after key collection were we able to decide to go with a corner carpentry (suggested by our ID!) and do a half glass panel at Bedroom 3 (Study room) so we have the flexibility of allowing natural lights to enter this space and be able to accommodate additional chairs / tables to host our family and friends!
This corner Dry Pantry & Dining area eventually became our guests' favourite area because it's just so cosy! The 2 curves and LED lightings sure helped to soften the look.
Here's our view from Dining looking into Study room. Love that we're able to look in and out even while at work so it doesn't feel too stifling being cooped up in a room while hustling!
Bringing the bright, airy and relaxed vibes into our bedroom too. Took us some time to find the exact same green as our Kitchen Door & Sofa but we did it!
Opted for the L-shape configuration as we wanted our bedroom to feel spacious even with a King sized bed. Basically just forcing ourselves to practice minimalism when it comes to clothes hahaha
You might notice our Kitchen's vibe is a little different from other areas as there are more dark coloured fittings on top of the default light grey tiles from HDB's OCS.
We figured we'll go with more "coastal" vibe in common areas & more "farmhouse" vibe in not so clean areas hahaha how convenient!
Among "Aesthetics, Functional and Money", we also agreed Kitchen should be more functional than aesthetic to ease cleaning & maintenance so we eventually went with light grey countertop and a large kitchen hood to achieve the rustic farmhouse look.
As most of our kitchen appliances (e.g. fridge, oven, microwave) are black in colour, we had to go with beige laminates for top cabinets and painted our bomb shelter in cream colour to brighten the colours and vibe in this space.
