Firstly, we looked into colours and textures ๐จ
In selecting colours, we were drawn to the soothing vibe of rich forest green as you can see on the wall. This brings a sense of calm but also gently dims the room, easing us into โnight mode'. The wooden textures on the wardrobe and bed frames further enhances the cozy and inviting atmosphere. Blackout curtains were a must-have for my husband, so that no light from streetlamps or other sources could disturb our sleep. These made the room conducive for a restful night.
Next, dimmable lights ๐ก
We felt it was very important to create the right ambience before bedtime. Our dimmable lights give us the flexibility to adjust the room's brightness, creating a sense of relaxation. Equally important was ensuring sufficient lighting for getting dressed, so installing dimmable lights helped us strike a balance between comfort and functionality. They are also smart lights so we don't have to get out of bed to turn off the lights when we're ready to sleep ๐ด
No TV policy โ
While conceptualising our home, excluding a TV in the bedroom was a non-negotiable for me. Though my husband needed some convincing, we're now both grateful for this decision. (He approves of this message LOL) By removing the temptation of late-night viewing, we try to prioritise quality sleep over screen time.
Optional but good-to-have ๐๐ฝ
Whether you're using a diffuser or bedroom spray, introducing calming scents can greatly enhance the bedtime routine. However, for safety reasons, I'd advise against candles LOL. Adding soothing fragrances can promote a calm state of mind, helping with relaxation before bed.
What are your thoughts? What do you do to get a good night's sleep?
