Hey there
We're thrilled to share our 5-room BTO in the East, marking the beginning of our homeownership journey. We curate old and new, function and style.
Join us as we build our dream home, one thoughtful detail at a time
Original Floor Plan:
HDB designed this space with homeowners in mind, almost opening up the floor plan except... for one structural column right smack in the middle
But! Instead of fighting it, we decided to embrace the column by building walls perpendicular to it, so as to:
- Contain AC within the living room
- Conceal kitchen smells and visual clutter from living room
Proposed Floor Plan:
Other than the new walls at the kitchen, we made the following changes:
1. Extended the HS wall for a shoe cabinet and increased privacy in the dining room.
2. Built a curved TV feature wall in the living room to hide uneven surfaces and conceal TV wires.
3. Modified the home office wall to center the door to the dry kitchen, bringing more natural light into the space
Our interpretation of an english countryside kitchen. This room got the most design work – we wanted it to be *aeSThetiC* but also a hardworking space that could handle Rendang
Dry Kitchen/Home Office Pantry
To accommodate our work-from-home lifestyle, we incorporated a compact home office pantry. A tall cabinet provides ample food storage beside the refrigerator, while a coffee station is discreetly located on the opposite wall
We kept our wardrobes simple to blend in with the walls so as to not take up more space visually. Here, I carved out an open shelving space out of an otherwise hard-to-reach corner of a wardrobe
