  • Welcome to our study! This is where we display all our collectibles (mostly Frog's) and work from home (mostly Duck). As you can tell, Frog is an avid One Piece fan who has hunted down figurines from all over the world - hence this special display cabinet for him to keep his figurines. We opted not to have any built in furniture for this room (as with all our other bedrooms) so we could keep the layout flexible. The study room was also the last room in our house to be furnished as we took our time to find the right furniture.
  • One of the struggles we had with our study room was the recessed wall - we didn't want to build in shelves or cabinets to save on costs and also maintain the flexibility of the space, but we weren't also too keen on how the recessed area looked. Our eventual solution was to paint it an accent colour (blue in this case, to match our overall blue-grey-white theme) to make it stand out even more, because if you can't hide it, you gotta embrace it :) We also somehow, miraculously managed to find furniture that fit exactly into the width of the recessed area so we wouldn't have any weird gaps. We chose these cabinets from Taobao because they were super customisable (from the closed cabinets, drawers to shelves + had a wide variety of widths and heights) and also because Duck always wanted a flip-top cabinet :) This room is also where Duck does her workouts so the little ledge on the cabinet (where our sunset print is!) is where she can place her iPad while watching workout videos.

We also have this interesting transparent BUT not fully open cabinet where Frog keeps his collection of One Piece figurines and other random collectibles. The cabinet is pretty cool because it comes with wheels so we can actually wheel it out to admire the figurines from all angles (we thought we would do that, but we never did after buying it LOL). There's also an option to install LED lights inside the cabinet, but we opted not to go for it.

And of course on the other side of the room we have Frog's splendid collection of One Piece posters on the wall - all wrapped and in mint condition :) It's also his background wall if he ever needs to do a Zoom call at home (we hope his current/future employers are also One Piece fans hahaha)
  • We have our work desks near the window where there's more natural lighting - they're arranged in an L shape so we don't feel like colleagues HAHA We both have white standing desks, but Duck lives in eternal fear of getting the white tabletop dirty so she got leather desk mats (very very affordable from Taobao!) for both of us. Plus a cute whale tissue box as well to bring some joy to the mundane work day :) And yes, we are all Apple lovers in this household :)

Ending off this post with a picture of Duck's favourite corner of the study, featuring her Spirited Away jigsaw puzzle! It took 3 days and a lot of back pain to assemble, which is why this will be her one and only puzzle display for the time being. Our study room is probably the most multi-functional room in our house - it's where we read books, watch Youtube, WFH, exercise.... and also where this post was crafted! Duck's vision of an ideal home never had anime figurines in it... but I guess that's marriage HAHA so it's defo not the most cohesive place in terms of design :) But like every real lived-in home, this is where we let our personalities come through so yup, that's our study room for you!
