TLDR: we are extremely lazy people :) We don't like cleaning and we also don't like impractical things, which is why our home doesn't really have lots of deco items (except for Frog's collection of One Piece figurines that collect dust and threaten the stability of our marriage every day) We we were designing our home, we left only one open shelf for decoration- which as you can tell, has been consumed by more practical items, like books and vitamins :) But it's also home to THIS sign - the main philosophy we live by in this house. This is actually a light box we customised from Taobao for our wedding, and subsequently re-used as home decor. It doesn't light up anymore (I guess that's what happens when you buy a suspiciously cheap light box) - but it's still good for blocking the non-aesthetic collection of random cups and mugs we have hiding on the back of this shelf. It's also a good reminder of our... values and rules in the house :)
  • Our next cute deco piece is this magnetic lamp that we stick on our bomb shelter! It looks a little like the Pixar lamp (right!) and is adjustable so we can direct the angle of the light. We used it as a night light for a while, before we found it a permanent home here beside our message board, where we use it to illuminate important love notes that we leave for each other (e.g. "Frog, did you take out the trash???" and "Remember to return the Tupperware box to your father!!!")
  • Have you ever stuck your hand into a tissue box only to realise that it's empty? Well we don't have that problem in this household because we have this kinda aesthetic but very functional tissue box! The tissues are held down by a heavy acrylic panel at the top (so they don't fly away) and the box is transparent so we always know when it's time to replace the tissues. We're not sure if it fits ALL tissue sizes, but so far this has worked with most of the brands we've gotten from the supermarket and MR DIY.
  • Our last interesting household deco item is not the jigsaw puzzle (but yes, we love spirited away!) but the money bouquet here! We ordered the money bouquet for our solemnisation because Duck is semi-allergic to real flowers, and also because she loves money more than she loves flowers (and maybe more than she loves her husband? hehe) We didn't want to take it apart so we've kept it ever since - it's a nice statement piece and talking point for our guests AND an emergency stash of money for us (LOL).
  • And of course, if we're talking about home deco... FREDDY has to make an appearance! Freddy's original purpose (according to the Taobao store we bought him from) is a solar-powered light for gardens and outdoor areas. But we have no space to solar power him in our tiny HDB flat so he just sits around our house looking funny and cute :) He is also the part time mascot of our IG and Lemon8 pages so yes... that's Freddy our favourite frog and home deco item :)
