We went a bit over the top with decor this festive season and went with quite a minimalist approach! There are quite a few DIY projects here and I’ll try to briefly cover each one!
First up, and the most important part of our decor is our 5ft real live Christmas tree! We decorated it mainly with ornaments we picked up during our recent trip to the UK and various other bits and bobs in general red and gold theme.
The next most wow aspect would be the floating paper trees on the ceiling which add a fun level of dimension to the overall decor.
Before guests enter our home, they will be greeted by this dried foliage wreath which we DIY-ed using a rustic wreath form, 2 colours of dried pine, and dried amaranthus. This project ended up being so much easier than expected, with a really elegant outcome!
We also decided to deck out our various sideboards in our “entryway” area. The little clay Christmas trees in the foreground of the photo are also a DIY project using air cry clay and some paint!
On the other side of our door, we also decked out our mirror and decided to put up 2 paintings we made of our cat during an art jamming session. We feel that adding personal touches like these, really add a sense fun to the decor.
The space above our window was ideal to mount the tension rod. It was a little daunting as the total length is a bit over 3 meters but we managed it easily in the end! The actual garland is a mix of fake pine garlands, red berry tree picks, eucalyptus and dried green and white amaranthus.
✨Tip ✨
Using a repeating element in multiple locations of your decor, will help keep things feeling cohesive.
For us, this was the use of dried amaranthus across our wreath, garland and on our christmas tree!
