Hi everyone! I'm back with another update, this time focusing on the master bathroom.
Let me tell you, this was definitely the most challenging part of my renovation. The original bathroom was tiny and offered very little to work with.
Check out the next photo to see what I mean!
This is the original bathroom. It was half the size of my current, newly renovated bathroom! Talk about a tight squeeze.
To maximise the space, I had to make a tough decision: I sacrificed the original storeroom and integrated it into my bedroom. This move allowed me to significantly expand the bathroom and double its size.
I also relocated the sink area in the original layout and replaced that space with my dream bathtub!
Check out the new sink area! It's hard to believe this space was once part of my bedroom.
To save some money, I opted for a sink and mirror cabinet combo from Taobao. It was half the price of a custom-made option, which was a huge relief!
I had to order this ahead of the renovation to ensure it would fit perfectly in this tight space.
Ever wondered what's hidden behind other people's mirror cabinets? Well, here's a peek inside mine!
It might not be the tidiest, but it's organised enough to easily find what I need.
The key is visibility – make sure you can see everything without having to dig through a pile of products.
I love how this Taobao sink cabinet utilises the space so well!
The two drawers provide ample storage, and the top part cleverly incorporates the gap for the sink pipes.
It's a great example of efficient design.
Moving over to the left side of the sink, we have the shower area.
Inspired by Japanese bathroom design, I opted for a 3/4-sized bathtub combined with a shower combo.
This is a common design choice in Japan, where space is often limited. It's a functional and efficient way to fit both a bathtub and a shower into a smaller area!
While typical middle-class Japanese bathrooms often feature a stool and a single shower head, I preferred a standing shower experience.
I incorporated a rain shower element as well!
I love these faucets too! The ability to switch between a rain shower, a normal shower head, and a hose faucet offers a very versatile showering experience for me!
Here's my toilet bowl! No fancy details here, just a simple and functional design. You'll notice the stainless steel toilet roll holder, a material I've used throughout the bathroom. It's easy to clean and rust-resistant, making it a practical choice.
The pièce de résistance! This soaking tub is a real beauty. Inspired by Japanese onsen design, it's the perfect spot to unwind and relax.
While a wooden tub would have been stunning, I decided on a more practical option like this for easy maintenance.
I also incorporated the box-ups (to hide the ugly HDB pipes) to create functional storage zones. It's a clever way to maximise space while lending space for me to add a touch of style to my bathroom.
And for those of you who are curious, the soaking tub even has a little built-in seat!
It's perfect for someone of my size, offering a comfortable and relaxing bathing experience.
More stainless steel fixtures! I love the versatility of this particular fixture, which allows me to either fill the tub directly using the faucet, or use the shower head to create a bubbly bath.
Right above my head, where I usually lean on while in my soaking tub, is where my bathtub bubbles and bath salts are stored.
The motion sensor light on the right is a great addition. It provides quick and convenient lighting without the need to fumble for a switch. Perfect for a quick pee and a splash!
That’s all for my master bathroom tour!
