Finally - kitchen tour! 👩🏻‍🍳 Apologies for taking sooooo long for this but the post is finally up First things first, the kitchen probably receives the least amount of light in the house. It is loooong in shape. Light enters through the windows in the living room & comes through a little as well on the other end (also the makeshift service yard) Because of this, it was a little tricky for me to take photos in here. I have therefore turned the ceiling lights on - hence the temperature of these photos. Photos truly aren't very great too :-(

POV from the other end Very fortunately, our kitchen is not only long but very wide too. It is very spacious to be walking around very comfortably. Our resale unit, though considered a little old, has given us a lot of such precious space that is almost a scarcity now in newer units

Although we have only moved in for 3 months, it is a very lived-in kitchen 👩🏻‍🍳 I have consistently been cooking 3-4 times each week and it has been the most enjoyable! Whenever I have the time to, I will make it a point to cook A lived-in kitchen is a home lived-in :-) Also, these kitchen cabinet handles were subsequently installed. We initially didn't have handles but, after a couple of weeks in, quickly realised it takes quite a fair bit of effort to pry the drawers open with our fingers. Especially if the drawers have been filled and are slightly heavy from storing cookware I found these handles very easily from Shopee! They weren't too pricey and we got our carpenter to come down to install them

Very first kitchen fitting I am eager to share about - a tall pull-out unit! I got this idea from discovering kitchens having "dry pantries". Often, there would be a cabinet or unit dedicated for dry food. It is also suggested they be pullable, ensuring easy access to the items deep within As mush as I wish this unit could be wider in width and therefore bigger, there was the length of this wall to work with. Along with the fridge + oven, there was limited length on the right side of the induction

Still, we managed to churn out this width which was the minimal required for your usual packs of coffee, tea, milk. In our case, it is packets of protein powder 🤭 Also, this unit was intentionally situated just beside our water dispenser...
  • ...which is also our drinks-making corner! Including a coffee machine, milk frother, and a matcha whisk set ☕️🍵🥛 Check out the switches that we have hidden by the side too! Out of sight, out of mind. 3 singles and 1 double - hood, hob, oven, LED lights, and the microwave. Hiding them helps having less items in sight = an overall cleaner look Wish the coffee maxine was taller to hide the sockets behind though 🫣
  • Right next to this corner is our induction and a smaller pull-out unit, at the bottom, to serve as a spice rack - the second fitting to showcase in this post. It is intentionally positioned just beside the induction, making it extremely convenient to reach for the condiments & spices during the midst of cooking

Third fitting I am sooo glad to have - supposedly named "magic corner". I was so tickled by such a term but googling it confirms its name 😂 Because of the L-shaped bottom units, this particular corner becomes dead space. There would be no way of accessing it without a lot of inconvenience & no way of storing anything within either. As such, upon learning that these pull-out fittings exist, specifically designed for such dead corners, I knew we had to have one! Similarly, I use it to store dry food
  • Ta-da! It makes sense that the dish rack be at this corner, by the kitchen sink, allowing a smooth workflow when washing and drying of dishes. However, the L-shaped countertop also meant no direct access to the dish rack so it MUST be one that could be pulled down. Sooo happy to have found this exact one - very sturdy and has a decelerated mechanism, preventing it from slamming down
  • This L-shape layout of the kitchen - we retained it from the previous owners. Because the kitchen is loooong, this tail end of the L helped divide the space, carving 1/4 of it to serve as the service yard. Because of this L as well, the countertop space allowed a large kitchen sink! Having a sizeable sink was important to me too

There you have it, our looong kitchen with 4 specific fittings I am really glad we have Apologies for the poor photos as well. This is probably the darkest part of our house and my camera wasn't able to help 🫣

Do you recommend the pull down dish rack? Looks like it saved quite a bit of space too
