  • Welcome back to @ourcarousellhome! 🏡 Today, we’re excited to share the top 3 electronics/appliances we invested in that have truly transformed our daily lives - no regrets! We can’t imagine living without these gamechangers, and we’re sure they’ll inspire your home upgrades too. ✨
  • First on the list is our dishwasher. In our previous home, my husband used to joke that we already had a portable, talking dishwasher - and that was me! 😂 While I honestly didn’t mind handwashing dishes, he wanted to get one for this house. At the same time, he didn’t want to splurge on something with fancy features we wouldn’t use. Most decent dishwashers range between $800 to $1,000, but we managed to snag this Beko model for just $440 after a discount (U.P $550)! I was super skeptical at first because it is half the price of usual dishwashers, but my husband reasoned that even if it broke down and we needed to replace it, it’d still be worth it.
  • More than 1.5 years in, our dishwasher is still going strong! Honestly, I’ve only ever used the same setting: Clean & Shine with a quick press of ‘Start/Stop.’ Occasionally, we switch to Half Load when there’s not much to wash, and that’s about it. When shopping for appliances, it’s easy to be tempted by fancy features. I admit I was very tempted but my husband was firm on getting items that work for its necessities. For example, an extra LED panel that shows how much time is left doesn’t add much value for us - we usually just let the dishwasher run while we work or go to bed. At the end of the day, it’s worth asking yourself: how often would you actually use those ‘fancy’ features?
  • Second on our list is the robot vacuum mop - honestly, the BEST investment we’ve made for our home! In our first house, we started with an entry-level Xiaomi robot vacuum mop, which was handy but tedious to maintain. We constantly had to refill its tiny water tank, manually wash the mop cloth, and empty the dust bin. What prompted the upgrade? Post-renovation in this new house, we skipped hiring a professional tile/vinyl floor cleaning service, thinking we could just mop the floors ourselves a few times. Big mistake! Even after a month of moving in, our feet still felt dusty and grey. We considered engaging the floor cleaning services, but at $$800 for a 5-room HDB, it didn’t feel worth it, especially when that’s almost half the cost of a good robot vacuum mop. In the end, my husband was convinced to bite the bullet and invest $1.5K in a Roborock that auto-washes its mop and empties dust. And he was right! After running it daily for a week, our floors were squeaky clean - no more dusty feet! We have also never mopped the floor ourselves since. 😆
  • Last but not least, our Wells water dispenser has been another amazing appliance investment. Growing up with a water dispenser, I’ve always found it hard to live without one. However, in our first home, my husband didn’t want to invest in one since we knew we wouldn’t stay there long. Boiling water, cooling it, and preparing multiple jugs whenever we hosted guests quickly became such a hassle. Now, it’s completely fuss-free! With the Wells dispenser, we get directly distilled water at any temperature—ice cold, room temperature, body temperature, baby milk temperature, or even hot enough for coffee and tea. I know some might think Wells is overpriced, and that’s fair—there are plenty of affordable water dispensers available today. But for us, it came down to priorities. We opted for a better water dispenser over a higher-end dishwasher because we knew we needed something compact for our small kitchen. The Wells fits perfectly, with its bulk tank neatly hidden under the sink instead of taking up precious countertop space. Ultimately, it’s about figuring out what matters most to you and prioritising your appliances accordingly. I hope this post helps anyone trying to make these decisions! 😊
