  • Here’s how we transformed our service yard into a key feature of our home that also lets in tons of sunlight🌞
  • Before and After: Our Service Yard Transformation🪴
Here’s the before! We knew that we wanted to maximize sunlight, add visual interest to our home, while still maintaining a functional area for our laundry. We also really liked the idea of transforming the service yard into a mini “greenhouse”, and here’s how we did it! We hacked down the half wall that blocked off the service yard, letting in tons of light into the living room.
  • In place of a wall, we created a full height window that looks into the service yard. As we get direct morning sun in our service yard area, it made our home so much brighter. Another key feature that we added was this breeze block wall. We love how it adds an almost old-school touch, while concealing our laundry area from the living space.

Entering through the kitchen… We have a glass sliding door that let’s us close off the space when we turn on our air conditioning. We also chose to go with terracotta tiles for the service yard to add warmth to the space. This is also where our robovacuum lives!
